The Center offers special events for church groups and the community. We invite you to make your reservation for each of these events early by calling or emailing our reservations staff. Also,our professional staff is available to offer resources and consultation to organizations planning their own events at the Alton L. The musical morning is followed by a delicious meal prepared by the Retreat Center’s Chef Guillermo using local seasonal produce from Collins’ own organic gardens. After lunch you’re welcome to spend as long as you like exploring the grounds and facilites or relaxing in the Center’s comfortable library. Tour guides are available for the buildings and trails. This retreat is an opportunity for you to withdraw from the world for a time of reflection and prayer woven together with music and scripture, and create a community through a shared desire for the reconciliation found in Christ. Use the paper registration form if you'd prefer to mail in your registration.    Return to top   Date: September 17 - 19 Title: Mission 2010 Description: Return to top "Risk-taking Mission" is the theme of this event, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Truman Collins Chair of Global Christianity and World Missions at Boston University School of Theology.  Established by the grandfather of Alton L. Collins, the current holder of the chair is Dr. Dana Robert. Dr. Robert will present a Friday evening lecture at Portland First United Methodist Church (free), and will keynote an interactive day at the Retreat Center on Saturday, featuring ideas and resources for helping congregations become externally focused. On Sunday morning, Dr. Robert will preach in worship at First UMC (Portland). In support of the focus on building healthy, vital congregations, the Retreat Center is offering this weekend event for just $20 per person, including a delicious lunch prepared by our executive chef.
